One of Grandmaster Wu's greatest gifts to society was his research and development of "Eye Qi Gong". It was born out of his mother's bleeding eye condition in late 1980s, and the unfortunate diagnosis of future blindness. After practicing the exercises and receiving treatments from her son, she gained full recovery - easily threading a needle without eyeglasses! After her incredible recovery, medical doctors became very interested in his Eye Qi Gong. Master Wu led a medical team of 100 people to research his Eye Qi Gong style. The three year, repetitive scientific research study consisted of 4,000 cases and had a success rate of 90%. Specialized teachers organized practices and Master Wu’s Wushu styles were included as part of the provincial syllabus of physical education. He obtained honourary awards and certificates from Qi Gong, medical, scientific, educational and athletic societies for his work. In Guangdong Province, there were over 100,000 people practicing. The number of people practicing in the China was uncountable. The Eye Qi Gong now is being taught to everyone who has weaknesses in their eyes for prevention and healing.

Medical Qi Gong
From the 1980's until his retirement, he held many different research studies on the specific applications of Medical Qi Gong to heal illnesses and injuries with thousands of people. During a period spent with an Athletic sports injury hospital, he led teams of medical doctors and trained several hundred athletes in Medical Qi Gong. Stadiums could be filled with the people and places he has deeply touched through his physical gifts and marvelous educational accomplishments.

Grandmaster Wu was always willing to share his energy and knowledge cheerfully and generously with students of all races.

When he felt the time was right, he chose to challenge his closest students in the most powerful way possible. In early 2006, Grandmaster Wu crossed peacefully in his sleep over into the realm of pure Qi energy. He left a loving message for his students to understand that the physical body is only a transitory vehicle. We are eternally that energy which we cultivate throughout our existence. An enlightened teacher seeks to empower his students so that they will exceed his own reach, and yet he will always be with us. Many students who never met Master Wu are now receiving his call to expand on his life work.

Students fortunate enough to have basked in his physical presence celebrate his rich and successful life in different events. His joyful, happy smile, generosity and heartfelt teachings could never be forgotten. His successor, Master Yeung, returned to China this past summer to collect storylines for a book on the legendary Grandmaster Wu.
